March - Its never been a better time to start your training
At MCO, we believe learning new skills and being recognized for the skills that you have are important for the whole of your working life. Now is the best time to get started. Last Saturday’s "Courier Mail" (p2) quoted a survey undertaken by "CareerOne" which uncovered that almost half the Queensland workforce is thinking of a change in workplace. Another article (p3) in the same edition, quoted inspirational business manager Philip Hesketh who said that “Those businesses that succeed are the ones that pay attention to the needs of their staff and clients by asking what is important to them – and why”. He said that in successful businesses people “feel loved, they feel important and they feel part of something that’s successful.”
Employers may ask “What would my staff gain out of training?" and “How would my company benefit from training”?” Companies want the trainee to make a difference in their company, to help them retain customers, improve productivity, improve morale and reduce wastage. Employers might also ask “Why should I choose MCO? What makes them so special?”
At MCO, our Trainers work with employers and their staff to build a flexible pathway to extend the student’s skills and learning. We provide unlimited support, one on one coaching, and because our Trainers know your industry, they can give you a learning experience adapted to your industry. Our Trainers at MCO love working with people and facilitating training. Our new Trainer, Neville Kussrow currently averages 6 students a day in a range of businesses from small business to large organizations. His quick tips for students undergoing training:
• Break the tasks down into bite sized chunks
• Always communicate
• If you’re not sure, ask for help.
Its never been a better time to take advantage of the generous government incentives for businesses and help to relieve the current skills shortage by partnering with MCO for all your training needs. Call MCO on 07 3205 1130 or toll free 1300 552 435. Your staff – your best investment.

Continue your studies with Diploma of Accounting
Donna Roy is Accounts Manager at Poolwerx and is currently completing her Cert IV in Financial Services. In the not too distant future, Donna would be interested in taking advantage of the funded Diploma of Accounting available through MCO.
Donna speaks highly of her training relationship with MCO Trainer, Karen Bower.
“Karen and I are in touch regularly by email and text message and she always gets back to me quite quickly. The course material is flexible to meet my needs and the training has certainly enhanced what I do. It currently gives me more responsibility with the company. If I progress to a Diploma in Accounting, it will enhance these skills and it will also help me to do more in the corporate world”, Donna says.
“Juggling home, study and work commitments is more difficult in summer because of the longer hours required at Poolwerx, but it will lessen towards winter”, according to Donna.

Student of the Month
How would you feel if two of your Modules you’d planned to send to your Trainer were completely ruined in the January floods and you had to do them again? Brett Schwerin of Zente Exquisite Kitchens at Caboolture found this out recently when his laptop was water damaged and the Modules he’d put hours of work into, were lost.
Brett, a Production Manager with Zente Exquisite Kitchens at Lear Jet Drive Caboolture for the past year is studying for his Diploma of Management. He has impressed us with his motivation and attitude, and his ability to bounce back from adversity.
“My work involves running the production floor and dealing with clients and suppliers. The training has been very beneficial to me and my trainer Rosina Aston has been very supportive. The training provides a framework for what I am doing so I can discuss it easier. I am looking forward to completing my Diploma of Management at the end of 2011”
Well done Brett!
