Successful D-Tec Pest Solutions applies Diploma skills directly to workplace

MCO Image

Tanya Glancy from D-Tec Pest Solutions of Shailer Park is a recent “Business of the Year” winner for the 4th time, and acknowledges her training in Diploma of Management and Diploma of Business with MCO as being extremely helpful in running their successful business.

“We were able to take aspects such as the Risk Management plan, SWOT Analysis, Strategic Planning and Performance Planning Appraisals and apply these to our business."

"The training enabled us to identify gaps in what we were doing.  We have implemented the Performance Planning Appraisals for our next financial year’s planning and marketing and the Business Plan is our working document for our next 12 months.”

“Every Assessment has benefited our business and contributed to the growth of the business”, Tanya said

Tanya has attributed the Risk Management Plan as being integral in identifying risks before they happen.

“Thank you to our Trainers, Neville Kussrow and Angela Edmonds for their attention.  Neville was punctual, thorough and related the training to our business.  He was very motivational and answered questions happily.  We were able to meet at the Logan Hyperdome Library which was an example of the flexibility in training which MCO can offer."

Student of the Month - Jennifer Hamilton from Merial Australia

Get the Skills to Compliment Existing Qualifications and go further!

This month we introduce Dr Jennifer Hamilton, BVSc (Hons) Dip Mgt., Field Services Veterinarian Team Leader, Companion Animal Business with Merial Australia who works at Mitchelton.  In May this year, Jennifer completed a Diploma of Management fast tracked in 3 months and impressed our trainer Rosina Aston with her positive attitude and hard work.

MCO was able to claim funding under Manufacturing Skills Queensland.  Jennifer is a good example of someone who already had a University qualification but needed to combine her technical science degree with business on a day to day basis and sought out a Diploma to give her extra skills.

“I had experience in small business but not a formal qualification in business”, Jennifer said.

“I loved the self paced style and flexibility offered by my trainer Rosina.  I was able to have telephone tutorials on weekends and outside of hours which suited my schedule.  If I had enrolled in an MBA instead, it would have required set times which may have conflicted with my frequent travel.”

“I am now better organised, having done the course, and have more understanding on how corporations work.  I am currently recruiting and have found the modules on recruitment most helpful.”

"My management skills have improved significantly, and new career opportunities have already arisen at work since doing this Diploma.  I would definitely recommend this course to others and am considering doing another course wirth mco in training and education."

“Thank you to my trainer Rosina Aston who was very flexible and always happy to help and was able to give me many practical examples.”

Best Wishes Jennifer in your current work and your future endeavours.

Loscam Australia shares the value of training and bounced back after January floods

Irene Radford is the State Manager of Loscam Australia, an equipment hire company located in Rocklea.  Irene and 4 other Loscam staff are looking forward to commencing their Double Diplomas of Management and Business, Occupational Health & Safety and Customer Contact, respectively.

“The company participated in training with MCO some years ago and when the opportunity came up to do more training utiliising the $4,000 government incentive, we took it.  As it does not end up costing the organization anything, it was possible for 5 people to be trained rather than perhaps just 1 person having the opportunity”, Irene said.

“It is beneficial to everyone to be part of a group undergoing training as we can support each other and work together to improve our skills.  The business also benefits from our increased skill levels”.

During the January floods, Loscam was also severely flood affected and it was necessary to find temporary premises.

“There were thousands of pallets in the yard needing to be moved and other difficulties to be overcome”, Irene said.

“We were out of action for a couple of weeks but just because we were flood affected, our customers were not:  customers were only severely inconvenience for a couple of days.  Our first priority was for the safety of the staff and the next priority was to keep supplying to the customers.  We were able to find creative ways to look after our customers. “

“As some of us had done Occupational Health & Safety units as part of a Certificate IV of Business, we were also able to call on those skills when we needed to”.

“We are looking forward to getting started with MCO Trainer Rosina Aston this week.”

Thank you Irene for sharing some insight into the value of the training for your organization and we wish you and your colleagues well with your endeavours.
